The Mayor of Exmouth, Councillor Steve Gazzard, has presented Alan Hill, proprietor of AJ's Taxis, with a Town Council plaque in recognition of the taxi company's valuable support to the town's tourism economy.

Until recently, the Town Council hosted its tourist information service from office space in Mr Hill's Strand based booking office and this arrangement had been in place since 2014/15 when the Town Council took on responsibility for the service.

The offer from Mr Hill was very welcome at the time as it enabled the Town Council to start delivering a service without incurring costly overheads.

Councillor Gazzard said: "Exmouth Town Council is so thankful to Alan for supporting the Town Council in its efforts to provide a tourist information service for Exmouth. AJ's Taxis has provided the Town Council with the breathing space to develop a longer-term plan for tourist information provision in Exmouth and we are extremely grateful."

The Tourist Information Service has recently moved to dedicated premises around the corner at 45A The Strand.
