A 'die-in', sand castles depicting extinct animals and a Samba band will all feature at a climate change protest event on Exmouth beach at the end of the month.

The event, Exmouth Beach Action for Climate Emergency, is being organised by environmental campaign group Extinction Rebellion Exeter and will take place on Saturday, August 31, between 1pm and 3.30pm.

There will be a procession along the beach, starting at Queen's Park Drive, led by Seagulls Affinity Group, all the way to down to Orcombe Point.

At Orcombe Point campaigners will 'do a die-in' around a large Extinction Rebellion logo in the sand and extinct animals will be recreated in sand castle form.

Campaigners will also be on hand to distribute leaflets and educate people on the work of Extinction Rebellion. There will also be a gazebo with important climate change information near the Bumble and Sea cafe.

According to the event description: "We're hoping to have a Samba band and possibly the XR Exeter choir, and maybe the mysterious Red Rebel Brigade will join us?

"Perhaps people on kayaks, sailing boats or paddle board will join in too. Everyone is welcome to join in the procession - bring buckets, spades, snorkels, anything watery to be part of our sea rising themed event. We're asking people to wear sea colours - blues, greens etc if possible or even dress up."

The climate change action group, Extinction Rebellion, describes itself as 'an international movement that uses non-violent civil disobedience in an attempt to halt mass extinction and minimise the risk of social collapse'.
