East Devon's weekly Coronavirus death figures released by ONS

The latest figures from the Office of National Statistics show a rise in the number of deaths attributed to the coronavirus in East Devon this week, with more deaths taking place in care homes.
The figures, published today, relate to all deaths that occurred between April 18 and April 24 but were registered up to May 2.
In East Devon, between April 18 and April 24, there were seven deaths attributed to the coronavirus, with three of those deaths taking place in a care home and one person who died at home.
The overall figure for deaths, attributed to the coronavirus, in East Devon, up to April 25, now stands at 20.
THE OVERALL FIGURES
A further 76 deaths related to coronavirus in Devon and Cornwall took place between April 18 and April 24 – half of which were in care homes.
In total, 76 deaths in which COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate were registered in that time period, in which 38 occurred in a care home, 31 in a hospital, and seven at someone's home. The previous week saw 102 deaths – 12 of which were registered after April 25 when the previous figures were released.
The figures show with which local authority the death was registered, so while someone may have died in Derriford Hospital, if they lived outside of Plymouth, their death would be registered with their local authority and not Plymouth.
Of the latest deaths, 18 were registered in Cornwall, 13 in Plymouth, 11 in Torbay, seven in Teignbridge and East Devon, six in Exeter, four in Mid Devon and Torridge, three in North Devon and the South Hams, and none in West Devon and the Isles of Scilly.
For care home deaths, for which there were 38, down on 45 in the previous week, eight were registered in Torbay, six in Cornwall and Exeter, five in Teignbridge, four in Torridge, three in Plymouth and East Devon, two in North Devon, and one in Mid Devon, with none in the South Hams. Of the 58 deaths in Devon in the week, 32, more than half, happened in a care home.
Seven home deaths were registered with three in Cornwall, two in Torbay, and one in Exeter and East Devon.
In total, the ONS stats 349 people in Devon and Cornwall have died with COVID-19 registered on the death certificate. Thirty deaths occurred at home, with 209 in hospitals and 110 in care homes.
The overall figures for deaths in 2020 related to coronavirus that occurred up to April 25 and were registered up to May 2 show 134 deaths registered in Cornwall, 44 in Plymouth, 35 in Torbay, 34 in Exeter, 23 in Teignbridge, 20 in East Devon, 16 in North Devon, 14 in Torridge, 11 in Mid Devon, nine in the South Hams and in West Devon, and none in the Isles of Scilly.
For deaths in care homes, 34 have happened in Cornwall, with 18 in Exeter, 16 in Torbay, nine in East Devon, eight in Plymouth and Teignbridge, seven in North Devon and Torridge, two in West Devon, and one in Mid Devon. The South Hams has yet to see a care home death.
A total of 30 people have died at home, with 16 in Cornwall, four in Torbay, three in West Devon, two in Exeter and Mid Devon, one in Plymouth, East Devon and Torridge, and none in North Devon, Teignbridge or the South Hams.
