Eight schools close in Exmouth as Storm Eunice hits

Eight schools have closed their doors today (Friday 18 February) in Exmouth due to Storm Eunice, according to Devon County Council.

It comes after the Met Office issued an amber warning for the local area, and warned of 'extremely strong winds'.

Several flood gates have also been closed on Exmouth seafront.

The storm is currently at its peak, gusting at 63mph in Exmouth at the time of writing.

Seven of Exmouth's primary schools have closed, as well as its one secondary school. The schools that have closed are as follows:

  1. Exmouth Community College
  2. The Beacon Church of England (VA) Primary School
  3. St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Exmouth
  4. Withycombe Raleigh Church of England Primary School
  5. Marpool Primary School
  6. Brixington Primary Academy
  7. Bassetts Farm Primary School
  8. Littleham Church of England Primary School
