Exmouth firefighters responded to a crash in Woodbury at 8.37am this morning (Thursday 9 September).

One of the vehicles involved had left the road, and an injured woman was trapped inside. The fire crews cut her out of the vehicle, then left her with the ambulance service.

A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire & Rescue Service said in a report: "Two fire appliances from Exmouth were mobilised to a report of a road traffic collision at the road past Blackhill in Woodbury.

"On arrival at the scene crews requested an additional appliance for personnel which was mobilised from Middlemoor.

"Crews reported one vehicle which had left the roadway with one female trapped inside with back and neck pain.

"Crews stabilised the vehicle and rendered first aid before the arrival of ambulance personnel.

"Fire crews used hydraulic cutting equipment and small tools to release the casualty who was left in the care of the ambulance service. Police also attended."
