Exmouth St John Ambulance Unit is embarking on a recruitment drive to get adult volunteers for its first aid activities.

This along with its community awareness days is part of the group's latest drive to return the 95-year-old unit to its former glory.

As a First Aider at events, you will help St John Ambulance provide first aid at large and small events within the community. You'll be part of a team of volunteers delivering help where it is needed, dealing with everything from a sprained ankle to a cardiac arrest.

As a First Aider at events, you'll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It's great for you and great for our community, and it requires only a small commitment of your time.

St John Ambulance will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. With the chance to further those skills in areas as varied as emergency medical technicians, communication specialists helping at our events to logistic support and youth work.

"Exmouth St John Ambulance has a long history within the town and we are at a stage where we want to continue this but need new adult volunteers to step forward and help keep our 95 year old promise to the town and surrounding area of being the difference between a life lost and a life saved," said Vikki Atkins, acting events and training lead for Exmouth All services unit.

"We cover events as diverse as Exmouth Kite Festival to Beautiful Days, to sporting events and local fetes, to opportunities to support events such Wimbledon and the London marathon. No two days are the same with St John Ambulance. And that's what makes it a great opportunity for those wanting to get out and about and experience new things whilst giving something back to the local and wider community."

This vacancy is to cover the Exmouth areas but those wishing to volunteer anywhere in the South Devon region can apply through here.
