Three fire engines called to outbuilding fire in Exmouth

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 23.11 last night, after an outbuilding caught on fire on Littleham Road in Exmouth.

Two fire appliances from Exmouth, one from Budleigh Salterton and an Operational Assurance Officer were mobilised.

A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "On arrival the incident commander confirmed a single storey outbuilding measuring approximately 6m x 4m well alight.

"Crews got to work extinguishing the fire using one hose reel jet.

"At 2340hrs Western Power were requested due to arcing cables.

"At 2351hrs crews were using two hose reel jets, one main jet, a short extension ladder and small tools in an effort to strip roof tiles for access to extinguish the fire and remaining hotspots.

"At 0125hrs the fire was out and crews returned to their home stations.

"This was a fire involving a single storey out building measuring approximately 6m x 4m.

"The fire was extinguished using two hose reel jets, one main jet, two short extension ladders, small tools and a thermal imaging camera."

The cause of the fire was believed to be accidental.
