Exmouth residents expressed concern after a travelling community stationed themselves in Littleham Green yesterday evening (Weds).

The group, travelling in caravans and mobile homes, parked their vehicles on the recreational area near Rodney Close and camped there overnight.

Littleham Ward Councillor, Bruce de Saram told Exmouth Nub News: "Following on from reports about travellers being at Phear Park in Exmouth yesterday, it would appear that the travellers moved onto Littleham Green yesterday evening.

"As I understand it, notices have been served at this new location with action being taken in accordance with EDDC procedures."

Cllr de Saram went on to say: "At this time of politically inspired leadership turmoil in the Council, this issue is a good example of the joined up approach between all involved at the both the local level and Westminster.

"I thank the public for their commitment to their neighbourhood and EDDC officers for dealing with this matter so effectively and quickly."

A spokesperson for EDDC said: "We're aware of a group of travellers in Exmouth who last night moved from Phear Park to land at Rodney Close, Littleham.

"There are around eight to ten caravans parked on the field.

"Yesterday we served the travellers notice to leave and we are using our usual procedures to follow this through."
