An annual ban excluding dogs from a large area of Exmouth beach is set to take effect from Sunday 1 May.

The ban will be in force up to and including 30 September - meaning the next time you can walk your dog in the specified areas will be from 1 October.

Dogs are allowed on the district's beaches for the rest of the year, but are banned all year round in certain locations such as children's play areas maintained by East Devon District Council.

Where are the dog exclusion areas exactly?

The dog exclusion area on Exmouth beach runs for approximately one mile from the Octagon to just before Orcombe Point. The ban also includes parts of the beaches at Budleigh Salterton, Sidmouth, Seaton, and Beer.

The section of Exmouth beach before Orcombe Point and the beach at Sandy Bay are not affected by the ban.
