Body of 16-year-old boy found on Exmouth beach

Police have confirmed today that a body found on a beach near Exmouth is that of a 16-year-old boy.

Police were called at around 6.20am on Saturday, August 22, with reports that a body had been found on the beach near Orcombe Point in Exmouth.

Emergency services attended the scene and a 16-year-old local boy was declared deceased.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "This is a desperately sad and tragic incident for everyone involved and our thoughts are with the boy's family and friends at this difficult time."
