2 fire appliances from Middlemoor and Danes Castle were mobilised following multiple calls from the driver of a car, and passing motorists, reporting that it had caught fire at the above location.

The vehicle was well alight on our arrival and crews set to work extinguishing it using 2 hose reel jets and 2 breathing apparatus wearers. The attendance of the Police were also requested to assist with traffic control and arrange recovery of the vehicle.

This incident is now complete and was brought under control at 11:18hrs. Once the fire, which started accidentally and caused 50% damage to the vehicle, was extinguished and the scene made safe, crews left duty of care with the Highways Agency, who attended instead of the Police.
