Exmouth Nub News and Kings Garden & Leisure would like to congratulate the winners of our Christmas Tree Competition.
The winners, Bradley Thomas Dawe, Claire Austin and George Cartwright, picked up their trees at a prize giving event at Kings Garden and Leisure in Exmouth last night (December 2).
The competition was put together by Nub News and the King family as way of giving back to the Exmouth community and spreading some Christmas cheer.
Christmas Tree winner Bradley Thomas Dawe said: "Thanks you so much Kings Garden & Leisure and Nub News for this fantastic Christmas gift.
"We're shocked and excited, the kids will love it. This will be our first natural tree as a family."
Fellow winner and admin of local Facebook group Exmouth Friends In Need Claire Austin was delighted to be given her tree, she said: "I think it's amazing. We don't win much so it comes as a lovely surprise. We really like having a real tree, it makes such a difference."
The final winner George Cartwright came to collect his tree with his family, he said: "I never win anything so this is great. We usually have an artificial tree but this year we were planning to get a real one so this has made it all very easy."
Kings Garden and Leisure have been donating Christmas trees to local councils, schools, charities and community groups for the last 15 years.
This year Sidmouth Town Council, Exmouth Town Council, the Exeter Deaf Academy and Exmouth Lifeboat Station have all received trees from Kings as well as many more local organisations.
Ethan King explained that helping the community is something very close to the family's heart, he said: "First and foremost we want to help the community and share some Christmas spirit. We've been donating Christmas trees to local groups and organisations for around 15 years and it's incredibly important to us to be part of the area we serve.
"At the end of the day we are a local family doing our best to support our councils, schools and charities in any way we can, that's particularly important at this time of year.
"To the winners we would like to say well done and have a lovely Christmas. To the rest of the Exmouth and wider East Devon community, we hope to see as many of you as possible at the garden centre as we celebrate Christmas here at Kings."
Kings offer top quality gardening products, garden furniture, BBQs, garden ornaments, pots, compost and seasonal products as well as farm produce, bird care products, houseplants, books, clothing, giftware, cookery and kitchenware.
Why not visiting Santa at the Exmouth garden centre's Christmas Grotto? The Grotto will open this weekend and every weekend in the run up to Christmas.
Nub News CEO Karl Hancock said: "Congratulations to all our winners, everyone here at Nub News wishes you and the rest of the Exmouth community a very merry Christmas.
"Working with Kings Garden and Leisure on this competition has been an absolute pleasure. We share a common sense of community and a commitment to supporting the areas we serve."
