Circus inspired candy floss gin on the way from Copper Frog Distillery

An Exmouth distillery has revealed its latest creation, a full strength candy floss gin inspired by 'broken hearted harlequins, quiet jesters and crying clowns'.

Exmouth's Copper Frog Distillery has teamed up with Paulos Circus, based in Newquay, to create Tears Of A Clown Gin. It is believed it will become the only full strength candy floss flavoured gin on the market.

The unusual spirit was commissioned by Paulos Circus' publicity manager, Kenny Darnell Jnr, to celebrate the darker side of life. Kenny told Nub News: "I want this gin to be dark and edgy, I don't want a flowery gin. Everything has a dark side, including gin.

"You will not find another gin like it. It's not over-sweet but it has that distinctive candy floss flavour that will take you back to nights at the circus.

"I was brought up in the circus and this gin really represents that experience. The gin will speak for itself."

Kenny describes the taste as similar to 'drinking a bag of sweets'. Kenny got in contact with Simon Hughes, the distillery's owner, after seeing marketing for Copper Frog Gin and realising that Simon and his family visited Paulos Circus whenever it came to Darts Farm.

Interest in the gin has 'snowballed' faster than Kenny ever imagined, with orders already coming in from prospective stockists.

A circus themed launch party is being planned at a Newquay nightclub and the bottles will be sealed with pink shimmer wax.

The final hurdle for Tears Of A Clown Gin is bottling and branding, the gin is expected to go on the market in the next two weeks.
