A public consultation on whether to have a residents' parking scheme in parts of Exmouth has launched.

Devon County Council is running the consultation, which lasts until Wednesday 24 August.

The zones identified for the proposed schemes (see map) are near the town centre and include areas such as the Colonies, Madeira Villas, Morton Road, Bicton Street and more.

A spokesperson for Devon County Council said: "Residents' parking schemes are designed to discourage all-day commuter parking in residential areas. They allocate the available on-street parking capacity to residents and their visitors through the use of permits.

"Where shops and businesses are located within residential areas, business permits are available to buy and limited waiting or pay and display parking are often included in a scheme.

"We are looking for local residents and businesses, as well as those who work and travel in the area to provide us with feedback on these proposals before 24 August."
