East Devon District Council is seeking a 'more traditional' funfair for the Queen's Drive Event Space in 2022.

It comes after the idea was suggested to the council in a meeting with traders who used the site in 2021, who also highlighted issues with recycling, a lack of evening events, and parking.

Proposals for 2022

A report to the Exmouth Queen's Drive Delivery Group stated that in 2022 they should 'tender for a funfair operator, but with a stricter remit' including noise and ride limits.

It was proposed in the last meeting that the funfair be 'less noisy, less bright and more in keeping with a traditional family funfair.'

It was also highlighted that the site should be plastic-free and for there to be better signage showing the way to car parks. An increase in ticketed events was identified as another way to generate income.

To let

The site is currently available to let - but you'll need to get in touch by 11.59pm this Sunday 13 February.

The council is looking for operators who can offer traditional funfair rides such as a carousel, helter skelter, mirror show, or coconut shy.

The operating hours are specified as 10.30am to 9pm.

The lease is for one season from spring to November 2022.
