East Devon District Council is looking for someone to take on the role of Deputy Operations Manager for its Streetscene service covering Exmouth and the wider East Devon area.

The role would require the successful applicant to work out of the council's depots in Camperdown, Exmouth, and Manstone, Sidmouth. The position comes with a salary ranging between £28,785 and £31,371.

Here is how EDDC describes the role: "We have an exciting new opportunity to join our StreetScene service and play a critical role in ensuring our grounds maintenance and street/public buildings cleansing operations are delivered consistently across our patch and in line with safe systems of work.

"Working out of our depots at Manstone, Sidmouth and Camperdown, Exmouth, this will involve travelling throughout the district visiting our operational teams on site to undertake inspection/compliance checks; and working closely with line managers to develop, advise on, communicate and embed common and safe operational practice."

"You will also be responsible for a small team of officers whose roles range from advising on beach safety, planning the landscaping of our parks and open spaces, and administering our income collection and resourcing processes; as well as deputising for the Operations Manager in their absence."

The council is looking for someone with managerial experience working in a similar environment, ideally with a NVQ level 4 management qualification.

Applicants should also be able to demonstrate experience or an NVQ level 3 qualification in a specific area such as cleansing, grounds maintenance or horticulture.
