Council worker being tested for Coronavirus recently returned from Italy

A district council worker suspected of having the Coronavirus recently returned from a trip to Italy East Devon District Council has confirmed today after it was forced to evacuate its headquarters yesterday.

East Devon District Council has also told Nub News that the member of staff has not been working in a public facing role.

The council closed its offices in Honiton yesterday as a precautionary measure, a council spokesperson said: "This is a precautionary measure due to a possible case of Coronavirus in a member of staff, returning from a high risk country.

"They are displaying potential symptoms and although the risk is very low, we are taking the correct measures.

"All members of staff have been sent home and the majority will be able to continue working remotely.

"The offices will be thoroughly cleansed, according to recommended guidelines, over the weekend and we anticipate reopening early next week."
