Dogs no longer allowed in certain areas on Exmouth beach until autumn

A rule preventing dog walkers from taking their dogs onto certain areas of the beach is now in force.

From 1 May - 30 September, dogs are not allowed inside the exclusion zone that stretches from the Octagon to just before Orcombe Point.

This is because Exmouth beach can get very busy in the summer - but there are still areas in which you can walk your dog.

For example, the Exe Estuary Trail is popular for cycling and walking, and the beach beyond Orcombe Point is also a great place for dogs to get exercise.

A map of the local area, complete with footpaths and cycle routes, was also made available last month by East Devon District Council.

More information can be found on the council's website here.
