More people need your help than ever before, so an appeal has been launched to help those in Exmouth who will be struggling this Christmas.

The reverse advent calendar appeal, being run by The Open Door Centre in Exmouth, asks residents to donate an item a day to help build festive hampers for those in the community that won't be enjoying treats or gifts without your help.

To take part all you have to do is find a box or a bag and start collecting on December 1 or before. Whether you can afford to donate one item or all 25, it will make a huge difference to those who really need it.

Last year, volunteers at The Open Door Centre received 100 hampers of food and gifts and gave out 102. They also gave out 86 wrapped gift packs. Each pack had three gifts inside.

They hope the scheme will do even better this year.

This year's goodie bags can be handed into the elves at The Open Door Centre between 10am and 2pm on any Monday, Wednesday or Friday in December up until Friday, December 18.

Your gifts will then be given out to local people at the centre's special festive give-away on Friday, December 18, and another special New Year give-away on Friday, January 8.

Volunteers will also be delivering hampers to those who are unable to leave their homes, for whatever reason.

Tim Chappell, deputy projects director at The Open Door Exmouth, said: "For many this has been the toughest of years.

"We want to reach as many people as possible, bringing a little hope and some relief to the pressures facing families and individuals in Exmouth this Christmas."
