East Devon police officer charged with rape

A Devon and Cornwall Police officer is due to appear before Plymouth Magistrates' Court on Wednesday (18 January) charged with rape.

Police Constable Kane Haywood, aged 29, from East Devon, is charged with two counts of rape of a woman aged 16 years or over and sexual assault by penetration.

The charges relate to alleged incidents in Exeter in March 2021.

PC Haywood is currently suspended from duty.
