Exmouth: Amnesty to return unused health equipment launched

By Will Goddard 26th Aug 2021

Millbrook Healthcare Ltd, Devon County Council, and NHS Devon CCG have launched an amnesty for people to return vital community health equipment that they no longer need.

It comes amid a shortage of equipment from China due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The items help the vulnerable live at home on their own, such as four-wheeled walking frames and raised toilet seats, hoists, and hospital beds. Wheelchairs are not included in the amnesty.

Glen Baxter, of Millbrook Heathcare Ltd, said: "We deliberately built our stocks up last year, but conditions right now are very challenging.

"We were delighted by the response last year. Because we were able to put back into circulation items that were no longer being used, we were able to continue to provide the vital equipment that people needed in the timescales required.

"We want to do the same again now."

The amnesty will run until Monday 30 August, and you can call 03301248214 to arrange a free collection.
