Muddy Stilettos has put Exmouth among the top 10 places to live in Devon.

Exmouth's "golden sands and easy proximity to Exeter" and its "increasingly swanky hospitality" all helped the town onto the online lifestyle website's Top 250 Best Places to Live 2023.

Other places in the county that made the list are Sidmouth, Okehampton, Ashburton, Tiverton, Totnes, Topsham, Tavistock, Kingsbridge, and the St Leonard's area of Exeter.

A spokesperson for Muddy Stilettos wrote: "What's not to love about a coastal town nestled where the Exe Estuary meets the sea, with two miles of golden sand, a 200-berth marina and great road and rail connections to Devon's capital city?

"Watersports are big here, with options on kite surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking and wind surfing, perfect summer holiday fodder for kids (and a leisure industry in need of teens to cater to the seasonal influx of tourists).

"Exmouth has much for outdoorsy types with its long, easy to access beachfront, Jurassic Coast clifftop walks and the Exe Estuary Trail, but it's the town's increasingly swanky hospitality that's putting it on the map.

"Celebrity chef Michael Caines MBE is the town's top culinary name, having launched the nearby Michelin-starred Lympstone Manor five years ago, he's since opened Mickey's Beach Bar at the new Sideshore development on the beachfront. Also breathing new life into the town here is Hangtime coffee bar, run by professional kite surfer Olly Bridge and partner Megan.

"Locals also rate Spoken for its Mediterranean tapas vibes and Grapevine Brewhouse. Their indie owners have both been instrumental in zhuzhing up the town centre with a buzzing summer al fresco scene.

"Because every seaside town needs a good chippy, there's Krispies, winner of Best in the National Fish & Chips Awards and Mitch Tonks' Rockfish which prides itself on its ethical fish and fabulous sea views. And because every Friday night needs a good cocktail, (how about a Bar Buoy made with local spirits?) there's Palm Bar."
