A bogus female health worker has been knocking on doors in Exmouth and asking people to buy a 'medical device' and to see their medication, Devon & Cornwall Police has said.
The residents received a phone call roughly two days prior to the visit. The 'health worker' was dressed in black with a white plastic apron, and arrived in a dark-coloured vehicle - but this was a silver Mercedes on another occasion.
There have also been other incidents in which someone claiming to be a health worker tried to gain access to a resident's property.
Devon & Cornwall Police is advising people not to engage with cold callers - not to buy anything, arrange something, or agree for work to be done.
How can I protect myself from cold callers?
You don't have to open the door, and if you do a door chain will allow you to shut the door if you have to.
Make sure to ask for ID, and if you're suspicious you can report them to the police on 101, or 999 if you're feeling under threat.
