From today all-day tickets at long stay car parks in Exmouth have doubled as East Devon District Council reintroduces its Summer car parking tariffs.
The hourly charges at council run car parks will remain the same, £1 per hour, but all-day tickets at long stay car parks will go up to £6, from £3, and a maximum stay ticket at a short stay car park will go up from £2 to £3.
The reintroduction of the summer parking charges tariff has had mixed response on social media.
Simon Greenslade commented on the council's Facebook post announcing the tariff's reintroduction, he said: "Thanks for supporting all the businesses that have stayed open and those that are going to re-open on the 15th."
Lee Collins-Board said: "Are you opening up the public toilets at the same time?! If not you shouldn't be charging for parking!"
EDDC normally introduce the summer tariff at the end of March but due to the Coronavirus outbreak the council delayed the tariff's reintroduction until today, June 4.
Free parking will continue for NHS staff, social care staff and volunteers in all of East Devon District Council's pay and display car parks.
Those eligible for free parking are asked to display a note with an appropriate form of ID on their windscreen.
