A planning application to demolish the existing Devoncourt hotel and build new apartments and a new hotel has now been withdrawn.

It comes after the application received as many as 98 objections and no comments in support.

The plans would have seen 81 residential apartments and a 62-bed hotel built on the site. 25 per cent of the apartments were marked as 'affordable'.

Concerns raised by objectors included parking, the environment, and potential increased traffic in the Avenues area.
