A water rescue appliance was sent from Exmouth today at around 11.30am (13 May) to a report of four individuals stuck in fast-flowing water near Ludwell Lane in Exeter.

Together with two fire engines from Middlemoor and Danes Castle, the crews found on arrival that two of the individuals were out of the water, but the other two were still stuck.

Wearing water safety PPE, they managed to rescue them from the water.

Both of the casualties were then transferred to hospital.
