Exmouth fire crew called to 'loud bang and a fire'

Exmouth fire services were called to the scene after two cars were engulfed in a blaze in a residential area in Exmouth.

The incident took place at Hawthorne Grove at approximately 1am this morning (March 6).

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service issued the following statement: "We received a call from a member of the public reporting a loud bang and a fire.

"Two fire appliances from Exmouth were immediately mobilised by Fire Control.

"On arrival, the Incident Commander confirmed that the fire involved two cars and quickly got crews to work with breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

"The fire caused severe fire damage to one vehicle and some fire damage to the side of the other.

"Police were called to attend to help identify the vehicle owners."
