Exmouth firefighters with specialist animal rescue equipment were called out on the evening of Saturday 21 August to assist fire crews from Okehampton in rescuing a horse from a ditch near South Tawton just after 8pm.

Their assistance was not needed, however, as the horse was pulled out of the ditch using strops and lines in a 'forward pull' technique as they were still en route.

The horse was reportedly unharmed throughout.
