Exmouth firefighters helped put out a fire in Marsh Barton early this morning (Tuesday 12 July).

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service had multiple calls about a commercial property on fire at around 4.47am, and fire crews from Exeter were soon mobilised, followed by those from Exmouth shortly afterwards.

Firefighters used hoses on the fire, which had broken through the roof of the commercial property.

It was believed to be out just after 6am, and crews remained at the scene to 'damp down hotspots'.

A final report at 7.15am confirmed that one single-storey industrial unit was 30 per cent damaged by fire and 70 per cent damaged by heat and smoke.

The fire was deemed as accidental by the fire service.
