Firefighters from Exmouth helped rescue a dog that had fallen down a river bank in the Alphington area of Exeter on Sunday (11 December).

Fire Control received a call at around 12.25pm, and one fire engine from Danes Castle was sent to the scene where it requested animal rescue equipment from Exmouth.

Fire crews rescued the dog and returned it to its owner, advising them to take the dog to a vet for a check-up as a precaution.
