Exmouth firefighters rescued a seagull chick from netting on a roof in the Louisa Place area of the town on Sunday (25 June).

An RSPCA officer phoned the fire service just after 3pm.

Crews were sent to the scene, where they successfully rescued the chick and returned it to its nest.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Fire Control received a call from an RSCPA officer in the Louisa Place area of Exmouth asking for fire service assistance with rescuing a seagull chick from a roof of a property.

"Crews from Green Watch Exmouth were mobilised.

"Using a triple extension ladder, roof ladder and small tools, they were able to rescue the seagull from netting on the roof and return this back to the nest."
