There's a chance to support Exmouth's lifeboat volunteers later in October – the town's RNLI has announced its first fundraising event in 18 months.

A Boat Jumble sale will be held at the lifeboat station in Queen's Drive.

The Covid pandemic and lockdown restrictions have had a severe impact on Exmouth RNLI's income.

Donations from individuals, groups and businesses, along with 'in memoriam' donations, fell noticeably last year, as well as collection box income.

Scheduled public street collections did not take place after the start of the pandemic, due to the withdrawal of permits, and the RNLI's scheduled fundraising events including the popular Lifeboat Station Open Day, the Maer Rocks Festival, Sea Sunday, Fireworks Display and the Christmas Carol service were all cancelled.

Now Exmouth RNLI is finally able to hold a fundraiser. The Boat Jumble will take place on Sunday, October 17, from 9am until 12pm.

Bacon rolls and hot drinks will be available at the event.

Anyone wanting to drop off jumble for the sale, or who would like further information, is asked to contact Roger Jackson on 07770 583235.
