Shelly Stammers, of Tri-Hards, was thrilled to announce they had won 'The Devon Pride Awards 2020 for Community Sport' last month.

A chance to win a national accolade is on the cards for Exmouth fitness group Tri-Hards.

The town has been asked to throw their support behind the organisation which needs your votes to take home the Stagecoach National Community Hero award.

Tri-Hards, which was shortlisted in the final selection following hundreds of entrees, will now go up against 18 other nominees from across the country.

The nomination submitted to Stagecoach said: "Michelle Stammers, known to most as Shelly, has created an amazing community exercise movement called 'Tri-Hards'.

"What started as a way to encourage women to exercise and create friendships, the Tri-Hards now welcome everyone who wants to take part.

"They're a close-knit community in Exmouth and her movement is noticeably having an impact.

"They're visible throughout the town in their brightly coloured training tops, all shapes and sizes, young and old and totally non judgemental.

"Shelly's message is always the same: 'I'm on a mission to get as many people as possible building friendships through outdoor exercise'."

Stagecoach is hosting the awards to celebrate its 40th Anniversary.

The company asked the country to nominate their community heroes, so they could reward them for their selfless work in the community.

Shelly said: "I'm so proud that Exmouth has this health and fitness community that has impacted so many lives.

"You can help me raise more awareness by clicking the link and inputting a couple of details.

"Please, please, please vote. I'm up against some huge projects! This would simply be so amazing for us Tri-Hards and Exmouth."
