Exmouth food review: Deli on the Strand | Opinion

By Will Goddard

4th Jul 2021 | Local News

Located here, the Deli on the Strand is a delightful little shop offering traditional deli items such as meat, dairy products, and foreign foods, alongside fresh sandwiches, pies, and hot drinks.

I went there this week, and bought a brie and avocado sandwich and a lemon and pistachio polenta cake.

I was anticipating the sandwich to be a bit thick and cloying, as both of its ingredients usually are, but was pleasantly surprised to find that it was refreshing, light, and delicious.

In keeping with its 'deli' status - delicatessens traditionally stock foreign, fine foods - they used pistachio and polenta (ground corn) in the cake, which are both Italian ingredients, and it was nice and moist with a nice lemony tang - a great choice for summer.

Just as I was leaving, I spied a sign saying that they sold crab sandwiches, and decided there and then that I would definitely be back for more!
