Musician Rick Wakeman CBE, known for playing the keyboard in prog-rock band 'Yes', told The Times in an interview on Sunday (30 October) that Exmouth is his "favourite place in the world".

He spoke to the newspaper about how he would go on holiday to the same Lawn Road guesthouse in Exmouth for "the first 16 years of my life".

Wakeman told how he would travel down from his home in London with his parents, the journey taking more than 12 hours in his father's old car.

The keyboardist also recalled going on a package holiday to Mallorca for the first time in their heyday in the late 1960s, travelling to the US with Yes, and going to Eastern Europe before the fall of the Soviet Union.

Of all the places he visited however, he said that Exmouth remains his "favourite place in the world".
