At 3.47pm today (November 22) 2019, Exmouth RNLI's Inshore Lifeboat George Bearman II was sent to investigate a boat drifting in the River Exe.

The Inshore Lifeboat, crewed by Helm Guy Munnings and volunteer RNLI Crew Members, Harry Griffin and Henry Mock, was launched at 3.58pm and immediately went to the scene.

The boat, described as in poor condition and barely afloat, was recovered by the lifeboat crew and moored safely at Belsher Slipway.

Inshore Lifeboat Helm Guy Munnings said: "We were able to swiftly locate and secure this drifting vessel in poor weather, high winds and very hazardous seas.

"There is currently a yellow weather warning with heavy rain and strong winds and if you have a boat on a mooring it's always advisable to check at regular intervals to ensure it's secure, especially at times when extreme weather is forecast."

The lifeboat returned to Exmouth Lifeboat Station once the assignment was concluded and was back on station by 5pm.
