Exmouth: Littleham Community Fridge reopens
The Littleham Community Fridge was officially reopened on Wednesday 11 August this week by Exmouth Mayor Steve Gazzard.
The mayor spoke of his 'joy at being able to re-open this very important facility for Littleham' and commended the hard work of all involved.
The Littleham Community Fridge was first conceived of by Littleham resident and Baptist minister Sam Burnett to keep people fed during the pandemic.
Together with volunteers from Littleham churches, the town council and the stroke club, Sam has secured funding to re-open the fridge on a permanent basis.
He said: "We wanted to bring people together in Littleham to reduce food waste and address food poverty.
"Littleham is a great community and people here look out for each other, the fridge is tapping into that spirit so that people can give when they have extra, and take when they have need.
"By working together, we can reduce the amount of food going to waste and take better care of our planet."
The community fridge is open on Wednesdays from 3-5pm, Thursdays from 9-11am, and Fridays from 4-6pm.
Donations are welcome - fresh fruit and veg or unopened, in-date packs of food can be accepted, but not home-cooked items.
There is an additional community fridge at the Open Door Centre in Exmouth town centre where you can donate or pick up food.
