An Exmouth pub landlord has said he is 'excited' about reopening on July 4 and has unveiled his plan to stick to the Government's new regulations on social distancing.

This afternoon Prime Minister Boris Johnson laid out the Government's plan to relax restrictions on the hospitality industry, including pubs and restaurants, starting on July 4.

Pubs and restaurants will be able to reopen as long as they follow safety guidelines.

Exmouth's Spoken, on The Strand, has already put a plan together to reopen while protecting customers and staff.

Spoken landlord George Nightingale said: "We are very excited to be given an opening date to work towards. It has been a very difficult few months for the whole industry and this is an exciting first step.

"The outline plans the government have introduced seem to be workable for us. It is of course very much down to the customers themselves as to how successful the re-launch will be.

"We have introduced a number of measures to reduce capacity, further reduce the possibility of any spread of Coronavirus by reducing touch-points for staff and any other measures that come from the government.

"Overall this is a good step forward for society as a whole and providing we all play our part, I see no risk of spreading the virus and we look forward to providing smiles and good times for our customers once again.

"We have used the down-time as an opportunity to refurbish, work on new menus and generally put right all the things we wouldn't be able to if open. Spoken is ready for customers, we just hope that the customers are ready to come out!"

The pub will also be introducing an online booking site.

-A minimum distance of one meter distance between tables.

-Hand sanitiser on the bars for customer and staff use.

-Staff will wash hands regularly and sanitise every 30 minutes.

-The internal restaurant will be open for bookings only to prevent gathering.

-There will be one entrance and one exit to prevent crossover of patrons.

-Toilets handles etc. will be cleaned and sanitised every hour.

-Codiments will be disposable in the short term.

-No cash will be taken. Card/contactless only.

-One person to prepare drinks to avoid contaminatio and touch points.

-Outside seating orders to be placed at our new hatch window only. No table service provided.

-No internatl standing at the bar to order drinks. Table drinking only.

-Takeaway service to run during opening hours only.

-Dedicated roles for team to minimise touch points.

-Reduced temporary food and drink menu for efficiency and reduction of cross contamination.
