Exmouth RNLI appeals for new lifeguards
Exmouth RNLI is looking for new lifeguards to look after bathers at the town's beach this summer.
While summer may feel a long way off on a chilly day in February, Exmouth RNLI's lifeguards are already thinking about the summer and are 'proving their physical fitness to save lives'.
As an RNLI lifeguard, you have a unique opportunity to make a difference to the safety of thousands of beachgoers. In 2018, RNLI lifeguards helped over 32,000 people.
To help you get the most out of your experience and training, you will get to work on a wide range of beaches and you will finish the summer with new qualifications and transferable skills.
You will earn a salary as an RNLI lifeguard which, depending on your role, can range from £9 to £11.29 per hour.
Lifeguards typically work around 40 hours a week and the RNLI is open to working around you other commitments, such as family care, shift work or another job.
During your time as a lifeguard, you will take part in an extensive training programme to build your skills – from how to handle equipment on the beach, to first aid and casualty care – and you will receive continuous, on the job training.
Senior lifeguard, Tristan Sheppard, said: "The training provided by the RNLI is outstanding and invaluable. It has given me the confidence, skill and ability to handle the many varied incidents I've encountered as a beach lifeguard – and as a full-time firefighter in the London Fire Brigade."
