Exmouth RNLI called for swimmer at sea

An Exmouth lifeboat crew was mobilised this morning (Sun) when a swimmer was spotted in difficulty off the seafront.
But the launch was called off after it was discovered the swimmer had made it to shore and was 'safe and well'.
An Exmouth RNLI spokesman said: "At 8.33 today, following a report by a member of the public to HM Coastguard, Exmouth RNLI was alerted to a swimmer in difficulty off the seafront in Exmouth.
"A short time later preparations were made to launch our RNLI Inshore Lifeboat with volunteer crew Guy Munnings (Helm), Henry Mock, James Searle and Head Launcher Robert Thompson.
"The rescue was called off after it was discovered that the swimmer had made it to shore and was safe and well.
"Swimmers are reminded that they should take extra care if entering the water during the current situation.
"Although RNLI lifeguards are likely to resume duty soon, they are currently suspended and we would urge all water users to be extra cautious at this time."
