Exmouth RNLI volunteers rescued two people and towed their 31-foot yacht to safety after it broke down two miles south of Straight Point on Sunday (6 August).

The charity's all-weather lifeboat launched shortly after 9.18pm and sped towards the vessel.

The crew of the yacht had made multiple efforts to restart their engine without success and stood at anchor off the coast.

When the lifeboat arrived, it was established that the boat's engine had malfunctioned and had a broken impeller.

The crew towed the yacht to Starcross on the River Exe and were stood down at 12.15am.
