At 1.12pm on Sunday (13 November), H.M. Coastguard tasked the crew of Exmouth RNLI inshore lifeboat D-805 George Bearman II to a report received from Exmouth NCI that a windsurfer was struggling and in difficulty off Exmouth seafront.

The volunteer lifesavers launched at 1.19pm, led by Helm Guy Munnings with crew Mark Cockman and Ed Thomas and immediately raced to the last known location of the casualty.

At 1.26pm the lifeboat crew were stood down when it was established that the windsurfer had made his way to shore and was safe and well.

On completion of the rescue the RNLI crew returned to Exmouth Lifeboat Station where the lifeboat was back on service ready for tasking at 1.45pm.
