6th Jan 2022 | Local News
The RNLI is now recruiting lifeguards for the summer season.
The charity is looking to hire people for the Sandy Bay, Exmouth, Dawlish Warren, Teignmouth North, and Teignmouth South beaches.
The salary offered is from £9.90 to £11.86 per hour, on a temporary, seasonal, or casual basis.
According to the RNLI, the role involves helping prevent incidents before they happen, rescuing people who get into trouble, and administering first aid.
The closing date for applications is 1 May 2022.
Who can apply?
You'll need to be 'over school-leaving age'. You must have parental permission if you're under 18 - and there will be fewer positions in some locations due to safeguarding concerns.
You'll have to do a fitness and competency test, together with health and eyesight checks.
You'll also need a National Vocational Beach Lifeguard Qualification (NVBLQ), ILS Beach/Surf Lifeguard award or equivalent. You can still apply without one, but you'll have to say in your application how you're going to get the qualification.
