Exmouth RNLI rescues three and black Lab cut off by tide at Orcombe Point

By Will Goddard 6th Jan 2022

Exmouth RNLI volunteers rescued three people and a dog today (31 December) after they became stranded by the tide at Orcombe Point.

At 2.33pm the crew of two Exmouth RNLI lifeboats were tasked by HM Coastguard to search the area around Orcombe Point following a report of two adults, a child and a dog cut off by the tide.

They were found and rescued, and none were injured or needed medical attention.

An Exmouth Coastguard team also assisted.

An RNLI spokesperson said that the black Labrador, called Rufus, 'seemingly enjoyed his excursion on the lifeboat and was none the worse for his experience'.

The lifeboats were back on service by 4pm.
