Exmouth RNLI volunteers rescued a man whose yacht had broken down on the River Exe near Starcross on Sunday (29 October).

The charity's inshore lifeboat launched just after 3.45pm and reached the scene within minutes in wet and windy weather and a rough sea-state.

The RNLI towed the yacht to its mooring with the help of its larger all-weather lifeboat, which then took the man to Exmouth Marina. He was uninjured and did not need any medical assistance.

HM Coastguard stood the volunteers down at about 4.50pm.
