Exmouth Town Council has revealed its programme of events for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in the town.

The Platinum Jubilee, which marks 70 years since the accession of Queen Elizabeth II to the throne, will be celebrated over four days from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 June. Thursday and Friday will be bank holidays.

The Jubilee beacon-lighting

On Thursday 2nd June the lighting of the Platinum Jubilee beacons will take place nationwide, together with the singing of Song for the Commonwealth.

At 2pm, the Town Crier will announce a specially written proclamation. At 9.35pm, a local piper will play a tune written for the occasion. The beacons will then be lit at 9.45pm at Orcombe Point.

Jubilee Celebration Day

Sunday 5 June will be Jubilee Celebration Day, taking place from 12pm on the Imperial Recreation Ground as part of the annual Exmouth Festival.

Visitors can bring a picnic blanket and buy food from local traders or bring their own lunch.

There will be a big top (large circus tent), inside which various circus skill workshops will be available. A BSL-interpreted theatre production, 'The Grimm Sisters', a retelling of fairy tales by the brothers Grimm, will take place at 3pm.

There will also be a chance to create collaboratively with local artist Hayley Watson on a community project.
