Exmouth: Stagecoach £2 single bus fare cap extended
A £2 cap on bus tickets for single journeys has been extended until 31 October, the Department for Transport has announced.
Single tickets will thereafter cost a maximum of £2.50 until 30 November 2024.
Devon County Council is also set to receive an extra £1.6m in government funding to protect bus services in the county, on top of an existing £14m investment.
Managing Director of Stagecoach South West Peter Knight said: "The announcement of this ongoing funding will help us to design and plan our services for the future, and we will be working closely with stakeholders to better understand the details of this extension and the impact on our services as we continue to help connect people, places and communities."
Conservative MP for East Devon Simon Jupp, whose constituency includes Exmouth, said: "The 'Get Around for £2' scheme is encouraging more and more people to get to work, enjoy the countryside and visit our high streets using public transport.
"After successfully campaigning to reinstate buses every 15 minutes on the route 57 in East Devon, I will continue to work with Stagecoach to support key routes serving places including Sidmouth, Honiton and Ottery St Mary."
Mr Jupp is a parliamentary private secretary to Transport Secretary Mark Harper.
