An Exmouth-based club for stroke survivors and their friends and family has won the 'Outstanding Contribution to the Community' category of the South West Business and Community Awards 2022.

Founded in 2009, Exmouth Stroke Survivors Club is a community group for people who have had a stroke and their family members and carers to share experiences and make friends.

A spokesperson for the South West Business and Community Awards said: "We are inspired by the tireless work that you do to improve the lives of stroke survivors in your community.

"The support you provide stroke survivors' families is vital. Well done!"

Club chairman Steve said: "We couldn't believe it.

"We weren't expecting it... at the end of the day, it's not about awards to me, it's about actually stroke survivors themselves."

Exmouth Stroke Survivors Club meets every Wednesday from 10.30am to 12.30pm at Bidmead Community Centre and has regular special events.

If you would like to join the club, you can click here to find out more or call Steve on 07952 273866.
