A teacher at Exmouth Community College has gone above and beyond by creating protective shields to help protect NHS workers treating coronavirus sufferers.

Community college teacher Mr Greaves has been using the college's laser cutter to create the shields.

So far, the college has donated 500 safety goggles to medical centres in Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton, as well as a care home in Torquay.

A spokesperson for the college said: "Mr Greaves was able to use the college laser cutter to make protective shields for NHS workers.

"This is in addition to the 500 safety goggles we donated between Rolle Medical, Budleigh Medical Centre, Hospiscare, Exmouth Hospital (who we also donated face masks to) and the last box went to a care home in Torquay."

The community college is not the only Exmouth organisation making protective equipment for our local NHS workers.

Last week Nub News spoke to Henry Hughes, the owner of Copper Frog Gin Distillery, who is making his own hand sanitiser which he plans to distribute to the area's GPs.
