Exmouth Town Council giving away free hedgehog 'highway surrounds'
Exmouth Town Council is giving away 50 hedgehog 'highway surrounds' to local households.
It comes as part of a bid to encourage people to make holes in their garden fences to allow hedgehogs to pass through with ease.
An Exmouth Town Council spokesperson said: "Hedgehogs can travel up to two miles a night.
"These hedgehog 'highways' allow them to roam freely to find food and other essentials.
"Rough estimates put the current hedgehog population in England, Wales and Scotland at less than one million, compared with a staggering 30 million in the 1950s! We all need to do our best to make sure their numbers don't fall any further."
To enter, like and share Exmouth Town Council's hedgehog-related social media posts or go to Exmouth Town Council's reception in the Town Hall to collect a free surround.
